After a pause due to the impact of Covid-19, we’re delighted to confirm that Flute School London will be returning to Monplaisir, a beautiful country house set in acres of lovely gardens in this most peaceful part of south-west France.
Chamber musician and flute tutor Janna Hüneke and trained chef and amateur flautist Marion Gough are looking forward to welcoming back old friends and newcomers on the residential course which runs from Sunday 24th to Friday 29th April 2022. And this year we’re excited to announce that Ian Clarke will be a guest tutor, hosting an interactive session via Zoom! The course is friendly and informal and is suitable for adults from grade 6 or equivalent playing standard. Sessions are individually geared towards course participants.
As well as gourmet food (and optional wine), and a chance to discover this beautiful region of France, the course offers a mix of whole group rehearsals, technique workshops, the opportunity to play duets/trios etc, and individual master classes. You can also sign up for an individual one-to-one lesson and a chance to play with a piano accompanist. This year we will enjoy the music we’ve been working on with an informal performance to each other at the end of the course.
Due to the nature of the course, participants need to be fully vaccinated. Please check any rules that apply with regard to Covid at the time of travelling. Currently, you need proof of vaccination to visit bars and restaurants in France, but there is only one easy form to fill out to enter the country. Please check any rules that apply on your return to the UK.
Fly British Airways from London Heathrow to TOULOUSE at 16.45 on Sunday April 24th, and we’ll pick you up from the airport for transfer to Ambeyrac (2 hrs), returning from Toulouse on Friday 29th at 17.35 We recommend you book your flights as soon as possible as prices will certainly increase!
If you prefer to make other travel arrangements, flights are available several times a day to Toulouse from Gatwick or Luton, and several times a week from Stansted to Brive and Rodez, both of which are nearby. You can then complete your journey by train or hire a car. If you’d like to travel all the way by train, there are direct connections from Paris to Cahors, from where we can pick you up. An additional night’s accommodation is available if it’s more convenient to arrive the evening before the course begins. Contact Marion if you’d like to discuss travel options.
We are striving to minimise the negative environmental impact of travelling to Monplaisir. The course fee therefore includes a realistic contribution towards offsetting your carbon footprint through a tree-planting scheme.
There will be the opportunity to visit a local market and some of the beautiful medieval villages in the area, and there are plenty of options for walking or cycling in the spectacular valley of the River Lot, as well as stunning spots for wild swimming.
Alternatively, just put your feet up and relax by our heated pool!
